Tip in spread Beckie/TGiF: architecture

Hier de rechterpagina met de gebouwen voor TGiF/Here a close-up fot the challenge at TGiF.

Deze spread gemaakt voor de tip-in swap voor Beckie. Haar thema was blauw. Heb gekozen voor winter thema omdat niet alleen de winterse ijs blauwe kleuren erg mooi zijn, maar ook omdat je in de winter meer last hebt van de blues zonder de energie die je zomers krijgt van het zonnetje. En op de rechterpagina heb ik een tweetal gebouwen gebruikt, uiteraard staan die in het echte leven niet naast elkaar, maar maken ze samen niet een mooie sky line en zo past hij hopenlijk ook binnen de uitdaging van TGiF: architectuur.  Made this spread for the tip-in for Beckie. She choose blue as a theme for her booklet. I choose winter to fit the theme, because not only do I love those icey winter blues but wihtout the energy we get from the sun you really can get the winter blues. On the right page I used some buildings, ofcourse they are beside eachother in real life, but don’t they make a gorgeous sky line. Hopefully it counts for the challenge at TGiF: architecture.

Finished first page letter N

En hier is dan de afgemaakte eerste pagina (in het artikel hieronder vind je het hoe en waarom). Het woord dat ik gekozen heb is nieuwsgierig in de goede zin van het woord, niet alleen in mijn eigen huis/omgeving (hier staat het sleutelgat voor) maar ook in Nederland en Europa (waarvan in de achtergrond nog een beetje zichtbaar de weerkaartjes te zien zijn), de wereld (daar staan de globes voor) en het heelal (hiervoor heb ik de sterren gebruikt). Er zijn nog zoveel vragen onbeantwoord (vandaar de vraagtekens) en nog zoveel te ontdekken en te leren. En als we nu hart hebben voor alles om ons heen komt het helemaal goed vandaar dus het hart.

En nu even over hoe ik het heb gemaakt. Heb eerst een met water evrdunde laag lichtblauwe acrylverf aangebracht met een spons, vervolgens een nog wat donkerdere kleur blauw. Toen een sleutelgat uitgeknipt en gebruikt als masker, hier de stempel van het oog in gestempeld met Versafine zwart. Daarna het sleutegat gemaskerd en de werldbollen, de vraagtekens, de sterren en het hart eromheen gestempeld, het woord nieuws stond er al, dus hoefde ik alleen nog maar het woord gierig te maken. Alle onderdelen wat ingekleurd met pastelpotloden m wat dingen te highlighten.

En laat nu het thema van Saterdays Workout: altered books zijn. Dus daar kan deze pagina mooi aan mee doen.

And here my first finished page (if you want to know what this is about look at the article below). The word I choose is nieuwsgierig (= inquisitive), I could have choose nosy because that starts with a N also in english but I want this to be positive. So I used the keyhole the respresent my home, the maps of The Netherlands and Europe for my surroundings, de globes for the world and the stars for the universe. There are still so many questions (that why I used questions marks) and there is still so much to discover and learn. And if we all act with the goodness of our heart everything will be oke, so thats where the heart stands for.

And now about how I made this page. I started by thinning some lightblue acrylic paints and sponge it on the background, then took a darker colour blue and did it again. Then I cut out a keyhole and used the leftover as a mask and stamped the face with the eye in it. Masked the keyhole off and stamped the rest of the stamps like the globes, stars and so around it. Removed the mask and coloured some parts with chalk pencils to high light things. The word nieuws was already there (see article below) so I only had to stamp “gierig” to complete the word nieuwsgierig.

And it happens to be the theme of Saterdays Workout: altered book. So I am entering this page.

Start!

Hier de start van het avontuur dat Trish is opgestart:  Alphabet Discovery workshop (klik op de link als je er meer van wilt weten). Vind het wel heel spannend, was in het begin erg verwarrend en moest echt over een drempel. Ik had al een bepaald thema in mijn hoofd, mijn boek zal gaan over emoties, gevoelens en dat soort dingen. De N zal gaan over nieuwsgierig (had ook nerveus kunnen zijn hahaha). Nu wil ik het in het Nederlands houden, maar veel benamingen in het engels komen niet overeen met het nederlands, neem nu stap 1: newspaper dat is dus krant in het nederlands en dus begint het niet met een N, maar als je een beetje creatief denkt dan brengt een krant nieuws en dat is dus wel weer met een N. hoe langer ik naar mijn pagina keek hoe meer ik ontdekte, want ik had ook een weerkaartje van Nederland ontdekt, wat ook begint met een N, wat een geluk! en past prima bij het hele thema wat ik dus in het nederlands wil houden. Dus al met al vielen de dingen mooi op zijn plaats, want ik heb een paar keer gedacht waar ben ik aan begonnen. Nou daar kan ik dan weer heel kort over zijn, ik hou van uitdagingen LOL. De advertentie over het concert van Diane Ross heeft verder geen betekenis hoor, vond het gewoon een hele mooie advertenie met een prachtige lettertype en kleine kans dat je daar verder nog veel van zult zien.

This the the start of a new adventure, started by Trish: Alphabeth Discovery workshop (click on the link if you want to find out more about this). At first I was very confused, scared and nervous and really had to step outside my box. I shall explain why, I want to be my book in Dutch but lots of words that starts with a N in english don’t start with a N in dutch. O boy, newspaper was already one of them, newspaper is krant in dutch, but then I thought a “krant” contains news and in dutch that is “nieuws” andt hat does start with a N, and the longer I took a look at my page I saw that I used a weather map of the Netherlands, the country I live in, also starting with a N. After that I got more convidence and was releaved because I had thought so many time, why on earth did I jump into this, I can be brief on this one, I like to be challenged LOL. The add from Diane Ross has no meaning at all but I really liked it and has a gorgeous font, big change you won’t see much of this when I am finished. My word for the letter N will be “nieuwsgierig” which is inquisitieve in english. I could have choosen nosy (which would start with a N in english too) but that word is a bit negative and I want a positieve meaning of the word “nieuwsgierig”, in dutch there is just one word for both positive and negative meaning.

Hier mijn bijdrage voor Art Creations Friday: challenge 28. Het was mijn beurt en heb gekozen om een achtergrond te maken. De achtergrond is geinspireerd door het boek van Kelly Rae Roberts. Tag it on and Theme Thursday

Hier mijn bijdrage voor Tag it On challenge: Egypte en Theme Thursday: tags. Stempels die gebruikt zijn zijn van Non Sequitur, I brake for Stamps en Cherry Pie. De kleuren die ik gebruikt heb zijn Adirondack Mushroom, Latte en Espresso, en een heel klein beetje Distress Fired Brick. Op het eind toen alles klaar was heb ik heel voorzichtig onder en boven wat white wash over de tag gedaan met gesso om het een wat verweerder uiterlijk te geven.

Zondag kochten we deze fossiel voor mjin zoontje Max. Niet alleen hij maar ook ik was weg van de vorm en kleur en werd er helemaal door geinspireerd.  En met al die streepjes die ik in de cirkel gezet heb past hij mooi binnen het thema van Crazy Amigo’s.  Last sunday we bought this fossil for my son Max. Not only he but me also where completely attracted to it. And so this was my inspiration for this artwork. And with all the stripes I put in the circles if fits within the theme of Crazy Amigo.

Hier mijn bijdrage voor Mixed Media Monday: feathered friends.  Ik heb een uitsparing gemaakt in het canvas en daar een frame achter gemaakt, toen bedacht ik dat het misschien leuk was om dat aan beide kanten te doen dus heb ik canvas aangebracht aan de achterkant. Ik zit nog te broeden op een tekst erbij.. Het prachtige plaatje is een freebie op de blog van Jamie. Here my entry for Mixed Media Monday: feathered friends. I made a hole in the canvas and put a frame behind it, then I thought maybe it would be fun to have 2 sides, front and back, so I put some canvas on the backside. Ben helemaal weg van steampunk en heb geprobeerd om een kaart in die stijl te maken, weet niet of het gelukt is maar was wel erg leuk om te doen, als je aan 1 wieltje draait draaien ze allemaal. Artsy Challenge and Saterdays Workout

Hier mijn bijdrage voor Artsy Challenge: gold leaf en Saterdays Workout: sparkling. Geinspireerd door het boek van Kelly Rae Roberts wat een kado was van mijn zoon Max voor moederdag. Ik vind het wel altijd lastig om dit soort dingen goed te scannen of fotograferen. Eerst de achtergrond gemaakt zoals beschreven in het boek van Kelly Rae Roberts, daarna het plaatje erop geplakt en toen de swirls gemaakt met behulp van een sjabloon wat gemaakt is met de Slice, de swirl is uitgesneden uit een transparant sheet en gesponst. Daarna de letters gemaakt zoals beschreven in mijn boek en als laatste wat gold leaf toegevoegd aan de randen van de swirls en de onderrand. Here my entry for Artsy Challenge: gold leaf and Saterdays Workout: sparkling. Inspired by the book of Kelly Rae Roberts, which was a gift from my son Max for mothersday. I find it always hard to scan or photograph thiese sort of shiney things. The background is made as described in the book of Kelly Rae Roberts, then added the image. The swirls are made by using a template made with the Slice, cut out the swirl out of transparant sheet and then used it as a template and sponged with black. The word dream is made by the technique described in my book. Finally put some gold leaf on some of the edges of the swirls and the bottom.

Hier mijn bijdrage voor Theme Thursday: cijfers. Dit steampunk object vandaag gemaakt, had nog nooit van steampunk gehoord tot er sprake van was op een van mijn Yahoo groepen, maar na wat gegoogle zag ik wat zo ongeveer de bedoeling was (hoop ik althans). Made this steampunk object today, never heart of steampunk before it was mentioned on one of my Yahoo groups and after some googling I got the idea (at least I hope).

Wednesday Stamper: Mixed Media

Zo ziet het eruit als je voor mijn eethoek staat. This is how it looks at my dinner table.

Een close-up van het canvas. Voor achtergrond van het binnenstuk heb ik een stuk muziekpapier bewerkt met gesso en daarna een kinderfoto van mijn man en mezelf erop getransferd. De foto van Max op een apart stuk papier geprint, shirtje ingekleurd, uitgeknipt  en het daarna bewerkt met UTEE. A close-up of the canvas. For the background of the inner piece I took a piece of music sheet, put some gesso on and then transferred a photo of my husband and me on this background. Printed a photo of Max on a piece of paper, coloured in the shirt with colouring pencils, cut out and used some UTEE.

Hier dus het binnenste canvasje, heb het oorspronkelijk canvas wat er precies in paste vervangen door een kleiner exemplaar. De bloemen en de tekst zijn van Studio Art Stamps. We zijn op de foto’s allemaal bijna dezelfde leeftijd. Here the inner canvas. I replaced the original one which fitted perfectly for a smaller one. The flowers and trxt are from Studio Art Stamps (text says: whatever you do always be yourself). We all are arpox. the same age on these photos.

Dit was de reden om het binnenste canvasje te vervangen door een kleiner exemplaar zodat ik strepen op de zijkant kon schilderen waardoor jij extra diepte kreeg. This is the reason why I replaced the original canvas for the smaller one, so I could paint stripes on the edge to create more depth.

Toen ik net begonnen was moest ik naar beneden om te kijken of de kleuren wel pasten bij de kleuren van de flessen en het groene/gele van mijn accesoires. Kon het niet laten om een foto van Max te maken, gewoon voor de leut. When I just started I had to go down and check if my colour scheme fitted my bottles and accesoiries. I couldn’t esist taking a picture of Max just for the fun of it.

Deze 2 prachtige flessen kreeg ik van mijn broer/schoonzusje voor mijn verjaardag. These 2 gorgeous bottles where a present from my brother/sister in law for my birthday.

Hier mijn bijdrage voor Wednesday Stamper: mixed media. Helaas komen de kleuren niet over zoals ze in werkelijkheid zijn, in het echt zijn ze veel helderder en sprekender. Here my entry for Wednesday Stamper: mixed media. Unfortunally the colours are way off, in real life they are much more brighter and vibrant.

Crazy Amigo’s: 2×4″/ 5×10 cm

De uitdaging bij Crazy Amigo’s is 5 x 10 cm. Heb gisterenavond samen met Max weer zitten doodlen en laat deze nu net deze maat hebben. The challenge at Crazy Amigo’s is 2 x 4″. Yesterday evening Max and I decided to doodle again and mine happened to be on this size.

Max had afgelopen week op school voor het eerst gewerkt met oost-indische inkt en dat vond hij zo leuk dat we wat spullen hebben gekocht en gisteren gezellig samen hebben zitten doodlen. Last week Max learned at school for the first to work with indian ink and he did find it so awesome that we decided to buy some and yesterday we sat down and doodled together, so much fun.
